Week 1

Week 1! 

I got a very slow start to this week, my apologies. When I initially signed up for this course, these few months were wide open and now I find myself traveling all around for work! 

So let's get started with the first 6 tasks! 

• Task 1: Review the instructional design skills and competencies (below) and identify one skill/competency that you need (or would like) to improve in (complete in week 1).
• Learning new technologies, especially Multimedia tools, is critical for me. 

• Task 2: Review the learning trends for 2017 (below) and pick one trend that you would like to learn more about (complete in week 1).
• For us as a training unit, we've found ourselves needing to learning more about the GenZ population and their tailored learning experiences. The word that keeps coming up during staff meetings is Microlearning. So while these are technically two concepts, learning more about Microlearning could let its self to tailored digital learning experiences for GenZ.

• Task 3: Explore several learning and instructional theories (below) and focus on two to research more in depth (complete in week 1).
• ADDIE for Design theory and Learner Centered Design

• Task 4: Check out the available instructional design communities listed in the tabs below, and join at least two communities that can help you address the skill/competency you want to improve in, the learning trend you want explore, and/or the learning theories you wish to learn more about (join in week 1, interact for learning in weeks 1-4).
• I joined the Adobe eLearning Community and followed Instructional Design Central on Facebook

• Task 5: Interact with the instructional design communities to improve your skill/competency and your understanding of a trend, to be reported on each week.
• Working on it. I actually was able to attend the vendors at the ATD conference when they were in Atlanta. 

• Task 6: You will be using a blog to reflect on and report your experiences each week, so this week, you will want to setup a blog to use. See the "Resource: Blogging Tools" for some suggestions on blogs to use for this activity.
